Improvisation - Exploring Touch and Partnering @ MoRe Summer intensive 2017
This improvisation workshop will examine the role and significance of touch, and how that will lead us to a creative understanding of partnering in dance improvisation. Class explorations can be shared in an informal showing on Sunday. We carry a certain responsibility when touching another person in a dance improvisation or any nonverbal situation. We will investigate how the presence of our bodies, touch, and body’s weight can earn the trust of our partner in motion.
I recognize that receiving touch, especially with a new person, can be challenging to many. We will be researching what can be done to boost confidence in how we approach touch during movement and partnering.
Within the rather broad topic of partnering we will be experimenting with weight-sharing and counter weight, and essentially have two dancers touching as they dance together.
Open to everyone. no experience necessary.
